Women Dressing Women

The Costume Institute exhibition "Women Dressing Women," which was showcased at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, explored the influential and often-overlooked role of female designers in the canon of fashion. Not only was the exhibition exclusively featuring female designers, but it was also curated by an all-female team, the first of its kind for the Costume Institute. The exhibition included a curated selection of garments and accessories from over 70 designers, highlighting their contributions to the industry and their impact on the political standing of women overall. The display was organized into thematic sections, each emphasizing different aspects of their creative narratives. Through this exhibition, visitors gained insight into the unique perspectives and innovative approaches that designers such as Ann Lowe, Vivienne Westwood, and Rei Kawakubo brought to fashion design over the decades.

Morgan Stanley, a Corporate Sponsor of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, was proud to sponsor “Women Dressing Women.”

My Role:

  • Served as main day-to-day contact, reviewing all materials mentioning Morgan Stanley created by The Met and providing strategic input on brand presence where possible in channels including but not limited to earned media and onsite at the museum

  • Managed positioning of our sponsorship on all Morgan Stanley channels, ensuring compliance with The Met guidelines regarding use of images and designer credits

  • Worked with Steering Committee comprised of ~30 female Managing Directors at the Firm to invite over 120 clients and prospects to the exclusive “Women Dressing Women” opening reception co-hosted with The Met and Costume Institute

    • Managed invitation lists, allocation of tickets by business unit contact and crafted all communications regarding the event

  • Coordinated full use of contractual benefits, including brand presence across channel, events (internal and external) and behind-the-scenes tours

  • Scheduled and executed a “Virtual Tour” with the curator for clients and prospects which saw over 800 total registrants

  • Created leadership report showing ROI of the sponsorship from both a brand and hospitality perspective

In whispers and songs, silk faille and satin, cotton and wool, it reimagines the record of fashion, filling in the gaps and wardrobes of history with names and pieces long, and wrongly, forgotten; elevating them, finally, to the pedestals on which they belong.
